Gusta Matthews
Biography
Gusta is a Stage Manager based in London.
Originally from the Midlands, she moved to London to study at King's College London and then the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.​
Although her training primarily focused on theatre, Gusta has always had an interest in music. She was a part of lots of musical groups at school and was a choral scholar at university, as well as performing with the musical theatre society. Whilst at university, she started getting involved in the production side of things, and hasn’t really looked back!
It was through working with English Touring Opera on their Learning and Participation shows that she discovered a love of working in Opera. She has worked regularly with ETO and Opera Holland Park, as well as for Grange Park Opera, IF Opera and Britten Pears Arts amongst others. She particularly enjoys Handel and New Writing, and was DSM on the World Premier of Jonathan Dove's Itch at Opera Holland Park. She is also still very interested in work for young audiences and outreach, and loves working to make opera more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
